The Babylonian Talmud (Sanhedrin 56a) states that there were seven commandments given to the children of Noach:
-
The obligation to set up a System of Justice
-
The prohibition against Blasphemy
-
The prohibition against Idol-worship
-
The prohibition against Sexual Immorality
-
The prohibition against Murder
-
The prohibition against Theft
-
The prohibition against Eating the Flesh of Living Animals
Anyone who accepts the seven Noachide laws and is careful to observe them is a pious one of the nations of the world and has a portion in the World-toCome, provided that he accepts them and observes them because God commanded them in the Torah. However, if he accepted them out of intellectual conviction then he is not considered a Ger Toshav (stranger that dwells among us), and he is not a considered a pious gentile, rather, he is considered one of their sages.
