Changing My Appearance

Question:

Is there any way for God to change me now that I'm already born (appearance-wise)? I realize the answer is probably no, but if there's anything I could do that would make it possible He could do something for me, I would love to hear it because I'm really uncomfortable with the way I look and I Any answer would be appreciated.

AskTheRabbi.org answered:

No, unfortunately for you, asking God to change your appearance is a somewhat futile endeavor. What you may want to consider is the possibility of changing the way you look using cosmetic surgery. Even though Judaism does not normally permit surgery for cosmetic reasons when a person is suffering, either psychologically or physically, because of the way that they look it is permissible to have surgery to rectify the problems.
