Salt

Question:

Rabbi, is there any spiritual connection to salt?

AskTheRabbi.org answered:

Salt is very significant in Judaism. The Salt Covenant is the obligation to add salt to all of the sacrifices that were offered on the altar. There is a custom to dip our bread in salt before eating, to remind us of the fact that we do not have a Temple today and we cannot bring sacrifices.
