Income and Wealth

Question:

Why do we ask for a good livelihood and then ask for wealth in the Sabbath prayer blessing the new month? Isn't a good livelihood enough?

AskTheRabbi.org answered:

The Mishnah defines wealth as being someone who is happy with his lot. That means that a good livelihood is very important and allows me to live in this physical world without lacking things but that does not necessarily fill me with a sense of satisfaction and fulfillment. That comes from being "wealthy". The Chafetz Chaim used to say that some of the richest men are the poorest of men as well because they have no satisfaction with what they have.
