Moses' Mother

Question:

I’m Jewish. Someone asked me: “Jesus’ mother was Mary; what was the name of Moses’ mother?” Help!

AskTheRabbi.org answered:

Yocheved (Ex. 6:20).

His sister was Miriam and his brother was Aharon in case you get asked that as well!

Allow me to offer a bit more “Help!” with your general Jewish knowledge if you want to improve it.

Check if there’s a class on the Portion of the Week in your area. If the time is right, why not go once and see if it’s for you?

If you read one book about Judaism this year, I suggest “Gateway to Judaism” by Rabbi Mordechai Becher, a senior lecturer for the Gateways Organization. U.S. Senator Joe Lieberman said about this book that it will “inspire, inform and guide readers in exploring their Jewish heritage.”
