The Rabbis explain that Abraham was the first person to find God without any kind of tradition to support his beliefs. That is one of the reasons the Torah emphasizes that he came from Mesopotamia, which was not a place that Noah and those of his descendants who believed in God lived. This is to teach us that Abraham was detached from those individuals who knew that there was One God.
