When the land of Canaan was divided, Joshua had lots made to divide it. On one set he wrote the names of the Tribes, on the other he wrote the names of the areas of land. How did he know the areas of land? Did he have a map?

Joshuah had not seen the land but he had sent the two spies who had seen the land. Their description together with Ruach haKodesh allowed him to know to apportion the parcels of land and how big each portion needed to be to suffice for each Tribe.
