Menorah Shape

Question:

What are the specific rules governing a menorah? Specifically, I am wondering about the way it is constructed. Can it be any shape? Contemporary? Or does it have to be a traditional shape? Where can I read more?

AskTheRabbi.org answered:

The defining factor for a Menorah is that the eight candle holders representing the eight days (not including the ninth candle that is used to light the others) be on the same level and that there be enough of a gap between them to be able to identify each individual candle. Aside from those two conditions the Menorah can be any shape and made from any material.
