Microwave Woes

Question:

I heated chicken in the microwave on a milky Correlle plate until the chicken was boiling hot. The plate had not been used within the last 24 hours. What should I do with 1) the plate 2) the chicken 3)the microwave?

AskTheRabbi.org answered:

Correlle has the same designation as glass and it cannot be Kashered. Due to various stringencies with regard to glass that means that the plate should not be used again. The chicken cannot be eaten. The microwave should be Kashered by cleaning it thoroughly and leaving it for twenty four hours. After twenty four hours a full cup of water should be put inside and heated up to maximum temperature for several minutes so that the inner chamber of the microwave will fill up with steam. The microwave can then be used.
