Numbers of Jews in Exodus

Question:

What is considered the total number of people who fled from Egypt with Moses?

AskTheRabbi.org answered:

It is hard to put an exact figure on it. The Torah relates that six hundred thousand men between the ages of twenty and sixty left Egypt. When one includes the women and those younger than twenty and those older than sixty a conservative estimate would put the number at three million. Many Rabbis are of the opinion that the number would have been closer to five million in total.
