I Came Out of Egypt

Question:

Why are we obligated during the Seder to feel as if we ourselves came out of Egypt, like the Passover Haggadah states?

AskTheRabbi.org answered:

The Rabbis teach that Egypt is not just a geographical location but that it is also a state of mind. This is what we are supposed to put the emphasis on. The fact that we are still in a state of “spiritual exile” is an indication that we have not yet learned the lesson of the redemption from Egypt. The Maharal of Prague writes that the hardest dimension of the Exodus was getting the Jewish People to fully understand that they were free and no longer beholden to any human king.
