Advice for Pesach Cleaning

Question:

I dread cleaning for Pesach because I'm neither young nor healthy. My husband's job won't allow him to help me, yet he wants to stay home, and we can't afford a hotel. What advice can you give me to be able to do everything correctly? Thank you so much. I want to begin now (January) and get a head start...

AskTheRabbi.org answered:

Firstly, please accept my blessing that you merit to have a complete recovery and that preparing for Pesach never be a terrible burden for you!

I think that perhaps the answer is twofold. First of all, you need to make sure that you have adequate cleaning help. Allow your cleaning "staff" to do all the heavy work from the moving to the defrosting to the oven. Secondly, it is important that you conserve your strength so you must learn how to concentrate on cleaning out the Chometz in your home and not to worry about the dust and the spring-cleaning. There are several web sites that will have Pesach insights into what absolutely needs to be cleaned and what does not - you can start perusing them now and you will see that there is less for you to worry about than you thought!
