Army Kippa

Question:

Shalom. A friend recently sent me a Kippa – skullcap – with the words Israeli Army written on it. It also has three Hebrew letters on it, but I recognize only two of them: Tzadi and Hei. Do you know what this word means?

AskTheRabbi.org answered:

I imagine that the letters are: Tzadi, Heh, Lamed. This is the acronym that spells out the words Israel Defense Forces in Hebrew. The words are: Tzevah Haganah L'Yisrael.
