Purple

Question:
Why is purple a mystical color?

AskTheRabbi.org answered:
The color purple is one of the colors of the monarchy and it is very symbolic. It was used in the fabrication of the Tabernacle and it is mentioned in King Solomon's classic Song of Songs, see chapter 3 verse 10. The curtain in the Tabernacle and the Temple was made out of Argaman (purple silk) and it separated the Holy section from the Holy of Holies and it was very fitting that royal purple was used as the task of the king in Israel was to serve as one of the bridges between the physical endeavors of the Jewish People and the spiritual ones.
