Inoculations

Question:

What is the Jewish view of inoculating babies against diseases? Nowadays there is an opinion that doctors are overloading infants' immune systems causing autoimmunity and even autism?

AskTheRabbi.org answered:

The general approach in is that until there is absolute medical proof that inoculations are detrimental to a child's growth and health, children should be inoculated. The reason for this is because inoculations have been proven for many generations to eradicate various childhood diseases. However, if parents have significant question marks and doubts about any particular (or even all) inoculation they should speak with an expert in Jewish Law and their pediatrician and, if necessary, the doctor and Rabbi should speak with each other so that a decision can be made.
